Unique piece of renowed sailing boat in role model of Lošinj's loger boats.
The interpretation centre of the maritime heritage of the island of Lošinj is located on the lower deck of the Lošinj lugger "Nerezinac", moored on the Quay of Lošinj Captains in front of the Apoxyomenos Museum, which in a modern, attractive and interactive way shows and interprets the long and rich maritime tradition. The aim of the exhibition was to present the features of everyday life on a ship in the late 19th century. The entire display consists of a part placed on the waterfront in front of the ship, a part on the ship deck and a part placed inside the ship in the lower deck (former hold). The installation in the lower deck of the ship shows the life on the ship through 5 characteristic thematic units: crew, food, cargo, sea routes, and the construction and maintenance of the ship (all enriched with sound). The mentioned thematic units are treated in such a way that, in addition to factography, they also offer an upgrade inviting visitors to imagine possible stories, i.e. to supplement insufficient information through their own imagination. In addition to photographs and authentic objects, the exhibition consists of illustrations and textual notes that offer an indication of the ship’s possible history. The incomplete, fragmentary and imaginary history of the ship is understood as an opportunity to question the authenticity of history and tradition, which we most often take lightly as an indisputable fact. The display on the shore (waterfront) and deck contains an information board with basic information about the ship, and a part called 'workshop' – a construction similar to a carpenter's table, where visitors can try some of the traditional shipbuilding skills needed to maintain the ship or skills on deck related to seafaring or ship management. Possible activities are caulking, patching sails, planing, grinding, driving nails, bending wood (steam), tying sailor knots, scrubbing decks, blowing the horn, lifting visitors over pulleys, raising sails, and similar.
