Opis
From 1930 to 1941, the command of the Royal Yugoslav Navy for the northern Adriatic was located in the cove of Slana. Most of the Selce Naval Defence buildings have been preserved to this day – barracks, warehouses, tunnels, a seaplane hangar, two docks and a breakwater. Although there were no permanently stationed parts of the squadron, exercises and the arrival of naval ships, submarines and seaplanes were common in the harbour of Selce. During the short-lived April War, the Selce Naval Defence resisted the advancing Italian army. During the withdrawal on 12 April 1941, almost the entire naval base was destroyed by blasting it.
