Opis
Until 1975, classes were held in the school building in the city port and after that it was moved to the newly-built building of today. The entire building is a horizontal, two-storey body of large window openings with a long façade on both floors. It is located in a park, with a terrace in front of the entrance to the ground floor. The new building was built in 1974 and 1975, and was conceived as a white stepped three-storey building with the shape of a ship's navigating bridge. This modern functional architecture is the idea of the inventive expert team of the project bureau Didaktainvest, a company specializing in equipping school and preschool institutions. It was created as a co-authored project by the architects Radovan Tajder and Mladen Anđel. The nautical (maritime) approach to design is revealed by the round windows, the characteristic shapes of the railings, the volume whose curvature resembles the hull of a ship, and the space in which, as in the ship's cabin, every centimeter is purposefully used.
